"Photography Is" - by Mishka Henner

Mishka Henner / Works

Photography Is

"Photography Is presents more than 3,000 phrases that define one of the most democratic and ubiquitous of all art forms. Mirroring the ambiguous and untrustworthy nature of photographs themselves, each phrase in this book has been torn from the context in which it originally appeared. The result is contradictory and chaotic, frustrating and insightful. In short, it is photography, without photographs."

Nan Goldin @ Matthew Marks in NYC

Sounds pretty nice, actually - wish I'd get a chance to see it.  If you're up that way, I'm sure it would be worthwhile.  Click HERE to read an interview with Goldin where she discusses walking around the Louvre while closed to the public, and click HERE to view images from the exhibition.  You can also read the press release on the Matthew Marks website.

Interview with Marc Baruth

"Reality is always mere allegation, and in my works, I absolutely deny constructed reality, which may at best be found in the representation of a tiny, actually photographed element." - M. Baruth
